Hey girl, where’d you go?

‚Hey girl, where’d you go?‘ is the first con­cept of a one-act one-woman ope­ra from thea­ter makers Anne Fid­ler and Emma Roth­mann. The pie­ce will fol­low a midd­le-aged woman (sung by Roth­mann) navi­ga­ting the social and eco­no­mic forces which push her toward home­l­ess­ness. It’s an invi­ta­ti­on to wit­ness and par­ti­ci­pa­te in a raw and dyna­mic thea­tri­cal expe­ri­ence that is both inti­ma­te and alle­go­ri­cal. Frag­men­ted nar­ra­ti­ve struc­tu­re, sound­scapes and indi­vi­du­al musi­cal num­bers mir­ror this woman’s dis­in­te­gra­ting rea­li­ty as she sinks fur­ther into the inse­cu­ri­ty that beck­ons her. The pie­ce seeks to explo­re the inter­sec­tion of aging, gen­der, and housing inse­cu­ri­ty in Ber­lin through a bold fusi­on of ope­ra, caba­ret, and per­for­mance art.
