Anna­ma­ria Cattaneo

Ita­li­an-Ger­man stage and cos­tu­me desi­gner. Her care­er path unites the disci­pli­nes of music and archi­tec­tu­re, which she stu­di­ed in Bolo­gna and Fer­ra­ra. To com­bi­ne the­se two pas­si­ons, she spe­cia­li­zed in stage design in the Master’s pro­gram “Sci­en­ze e Tec­ni­che del Tea­t­ro” at the IUAV Uni­ver­si­ty of Venice.

A DAAD scho­lar­ship brought her to Ber­lin in 2005 for a rese­arch pro­ject on con­tem­po­ra­ry music thea­ter, whe­re she has lived and work­ed ever since.

Her stage design assistant­ships have focu­sed pri­ma­ri­ly on ope­ra and bal­let at inter­na­tio­nal venues such as the Deut­sche Oper Ber­lin, the Staats­oper Ber­lin, the Ber­li­ner Ensem­ble, the ope­ra hou­ses in Stutt­gart and Düs­sel­dorf, and the Hong Kong Bal­let. In this con­text, she deve­lo­ped par­ti­cu­lar exper­ti­se in tech­ni­cal dra­wing and 3D visualization.

As a free­lan­cer, she has desi­gned stage sets and cos­tu­mes for both the inde­pen­dent sce­ne and estab­lished stages, inclu­ding the Neu­köll­ner Oper and Radi­al­sys­tem V in Ber­lin, as well as the Tea­t­ro Tes­to­ri in Forlì.
