GEWALT opens a por­tal into the silent archi­tec­tures of vio­lence — not as spec­ta­cle, but as structure.

This latest mul­ti­me­dia crea­ti­on by MXM [Mirel­la x Muep], deve­lo­ped in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with Bra­zi­li­an per­for­mer and artist Ane­te Cola­ci­op­po — who is also the artis­tic direc­tor of Acker Stadt Palast — and co-pro­du­ced by the venue, explo­res vio­lence as an inter­na­li­zed, sym­bo­lic force embedded in ever­y­day life.

Sin­ce 2006, MXM has craf­ted a sin­gu­lar and inter­na­tio­nal­ly acclai­med artis­tic lan­guage in live expan­ded cine­ma, blen­ding audio­vi­su­al com­po­si­ti­on with spa­ti­al and con­cep­tu­al expe­ri­men­ta­ti­on. Their inno­va­ti­ve work has been pre­sen­ted at lea­ding fes­ti­vals and venues world­wi­de, ear­ning prai­se for its poe­tic and immersi­ve qua­li­ty that dis­sol­ves the boun­da­ries bet­ween per­for­mance, instal­la­ti­on, and concert.

The duo’s long­stan­ding rela­ti­onship with Acker Stadt Palast began over a deca­de ago. Sin­ce 2015, the venue has hos­ted the annu­al pre­mie­re of a new MXM pro­duc­tion — fos­te­ring a shared com­mit­ment to expe­ri­men­ta­ti­on, auto­no­my, and artis­tic dia­lo­gue. GEWALT con­ti­nues this tra­jec­to­ry while deepe­ning the col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with Colacioppo.

Using sound and light as dra­ma­tur­gi­cal ele­ments, the pie­ce con­s­tructs an

immersi­ve envi­ron­ment whe­re ten­si­on, col­lap­se, and trans­for­ma­ti­on unfold through a cho­reo­gra­phy of sen­so­ri­al experiences.

GEWALT also inau­gu­ra­tes PINK YOU FEST – MXM 10 Years Ber­lin, a month-long cele­bra­ti­on of the duo’s influ­en­ti­al crea­ti­ve jour­ney in Ber­lin. Throug­hout Novem­ber 2025, the fes­ti­val will fea­ture a mul­ti­di­sci­pli­na­ry pro­gram of con­tem­po­ra­ry artists, per­for­man­ces, and expan­ded experiences.
