Gineke Pranger creates and directs innovative music theater works and installations. Her approach as a director is transdisciplinary, blending different art forms, with her productions standing out for their multimedia techniques and rich musical expression.

Her artistic practice revolves around a playful investigation of genres and the limits of musical perception. A key focus in her work is the deep exploration of vocal expression, especially in choral speaking. Several of her projects are designed to engage an intergenerational audience.

Pranger studied directing for drama and music theater at the Theater Academy August Everding in Munich, in the class of Sebastian Baumgarten. She successfully completed her master’s degree there in 2020. Additionally, Pranger is also a professionally trained

musician. She completed her instrumental studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Berlin University of the Arts. As a musician, she specialized in Historical Performance Practice and contemporary music, as well as forms of free improvisation.

In 2021, Pranger was the resident director at Theater Pfütze in Nuremberg, where she wrote and directed several new music theater pieces for young audiences. She has worked with various orchestras and ensembles on new performance formats for both early and contemporary music, including Stegreif Orchester, Ensemble Neue Kammer, and Ensemble Consord – Musik für Heute.
